Gifts for People Who Hate People

You’re shopping for someone who would rather you didn’t. They screen calls, leave parties without a word, and keep one specific face for people who say “we should catch up.” A candle will not land. A shirt that says the thing they’re already thinking will, and they’ll wear it to the exact gathering you bought it for.

Twelve shirts below, each one a particular flavour of not wanting to be spoken to. They’re $24.95 at sizes XS to XL (the two-sided ones are $31.95), shipping is free, and each one is made after you order it. Here’s how to pick, how to size a person you can’t measure, and what happens if it’s wrong.

Gifts for someone who hates people: pick the behaviour, not the mood

Don’t buy a general introvert shirt. They have three. Buy the one that names the exact thing they do, because that’s what they’ll recognise and what everyone else will laugh at: the phone-ignorer, the greeting-only person, the one who cannot stand in a queue without a stranger breathing on their neck. Each shirt below comes with the one line it announces about the person wearing it. Match that line to your person and you’re done.

Every one of them is rude about behaviour and never about who someone is. That’s the difference between a gift they wear and a gift they bin.

Funny introvert gifts: how to size someone you can’t measure

Ask them, if you can get a reply. If not, three ways that work. One: check the tag on a tee they already wear and buy that letter; ours is a standard unisex fit, so a medium elsewhere is a medium here. Two: borrow a shirt that fits them, lay it flat, and measure armpit to armpit. 18 inches (46 cm) is an S, 20 inches (51 cm) is an M, 22 inches (56 cm) is an L, 24 inches (61 cm) is an XL, 26 inches (66 cm) is a 2XL. Three: go by chest. 34 to 37 inches is an S, 38 to 41 an M, 42 to 45 an L, 46 to 49 an XL, 50 to 53 a 2XL. Sizes run XS to 5XL.

Between two sizes, go up. A loose tee gets worn to bed; a tight one gets regifted to someone they hate even more. The full chart, with lengths, is on every product page, and measurements can vary by up to 2 inches (5 cm), so don’t pick on a knife edge. XS to XL are the listed price; 2XL is $3 more and each size above adds a little again. The size chip shows the price before you add it.

Gifts for antisocial people, delivered without talking to anyone

Put their address in at checkout and the shirt goes to them. The confirmation and tracking emails come to you, not to them, so the surprise holds. Shipping is free on every order. US orders usually arrive in about 5 to 10 business days; the EU, UK and Canada in about 6 to 12; the rest of the world takes longer, and the shipping page has the detail. For Christmas, order by December 10 for US delivery before the 25th. That’s our estimate from the usual window, not a carrier promise.

Nobody has to answer the door for a conversation. The parcel doesn’t make small talk.

If it’s wrong: the exchange reality

Read this before you guess a size. Every shirt is made after you order it, so we can’t take one back for a change of mind, and that includes the wrong size. If it arrives damaged, defective, or it isn’t what was ordered, that’s ours to fix: email [email protected] within 30 days of delivery with the order number and a photo, and it’s replaced or refunded, free. The full policy is on the returns page.

A gift for someone who hates people should not require them to speak to customer service. Get the size right the first time and they never will.

Questions people ask before buying one

What do you get someone who hates people?

Something they don’t have to perform gratitude for. A shirt that says what they already think does that: it’s useful, it’s funny the first time and every time someone reads it, and it needs no card. If you know them less well than you’d like to admit, I’M NOT A PEOPLE PERSON. YOU’RE THE PEOPLE. is the safe pick; it’s a joke on everyone at once.

Is a rude shirt a safe gift for an introvert?

Yes, because the shirt is rude about behaviour, not about them. It says they screen calls or leave early, which they’re proud of. Nothing here mocks who someone is. The one real risk is the size, so measure.

What size do I order for someone else?

The letter on a tee they already wear, or a shirt of theirs laid flat and measured armpit to armpit against the chart above: 20 inches is an M, 22 is an L, 24 is an XL. Between sizes, go up. We can’t exchange a wrong size, so this is the one step not to skip.

Will it arrive before Christmas?

Order by December 10 for US delivery before Christmas, and by December 8 for the EU, UK and Canada. That’s our estimate from the usual 5-to-10 and 6-to-12 business-day windows, not a carrier guarantee. Carriers slow down in December, so earlier is better.

Can they exchange it?

For damage, a defect or the wrong item: yes, a free replacement or refund within 30 days of delivery. For a wrong size or a change of mind: no, because each shirt is made after you order it. Measure first.
